Business Coaching/Counselling

It is only within the last couple of years that coaching has finally been accepted in the business world. What has changed? Current research indicates that coaching is effective in empowering individuals by: raising their self awareness, helping them gain clarity, set goals etc. In empowering individuals it is only natural that businesses and organisations will benefit too. However, coaching in the workplace is useful not only in promoting awareness and clarity within the individual, about the individual, but also in creating awareness and clarity in terms of the organisation as well.
It cannot be argued how important Training is within organisations. From a practical, as well as financial position, it is not yet possible to provide all employees with one on one coaching, therefore Group Training is still seen as an important, necessary and valuable way of dispersing information to groups of managers or general workers. Training of many kinds can be used to introduce knowledge and create behavioral interventions and can be introduced in many different ways. Often Organisaational Training and Coaching are used together.
Why is Coaching proving to work so well in organisations? Increased productivity, Time deadlines, Development, Human Resources etc. All of these are important issues within organisations. Coaching can be directed at any or all of these aspects, and, as well as working with company vision works with the perspective and vision of the individual. Coaching also usually takes place over a period of time, allowing reflection and feedback to take place. The effects of the coaching is therefore more measureable than with training.
Some of the values of coaching within organisations are:
- Improves interpersonal an intrapersonal communication generally as well as improving communication and feedback within various groups and teams.
- Helps to develop self awareness.
- Allows people an opportunity to communicate openly without judgement.
- Helps people to gain clarity of their own role in the organisation as well as a clearer view of the objectives of their group, department and the actual company itself.
- Helps individuals become creative and become more aware of possible options.
- It gives people an opportunity to become more aware of the differing perspectives of fellow workers (how to get into their shoes).
- Encourages excellence, an attitude of curiosity, and continuous improvement.
It is not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is, what are we busy about?

It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little – Do what you can. - Sidney Smith
RAISING THE BAR.
Raising the Bar is a Training Programme which aims to develop awareness and self esteem in the workplace. It incorporates both a One day Training Programme as well as individual Coaching.
Without self awareness and a fair amount of self esteem, it is very difficult to 'raise the bar', work at peak performance, open up to voicing opinions and becoming part of a creative active team. People with low self esteem, usually have limiting self beliefs which can prevent them from participating even when they would like to. Imagine how many positive changes there could be both for the individuals working in organisations and within the organisation itself, if an opportunity was given to raise the self awareness of it's employees! No matter how much self awareness we have, it can always be increased, which is exciting and liberating. We can always find ways in which to grow and become more!
No matter who are what you think you are, you are always and in all ways more than that!
